Norm, thanks for all your investment in effort and $. The responses so far
seem to be just about unanimous, and I pretty much agree with the consensus.
I have only one mild quibble:

Maryland is a pretty small state, so I (along with most others I suspect)
bird out of the state fairly frequently. I don't subscribe to birding
listserves for the adjoining states (because I don't want to see their
complete sightings lists, and probably couldn't tolerate all that extra
humor), so I would like to hear about unusual or interesting sightings in
nearby states if they are within a 2-3 hour drive, such as Delaware,
northern Virginia, and southern PA. Complete lists of sightings there
wouldn't be appropriate, only the highlights.
