This (Sat) morning, Rob Hilton & I went to the lower part of Anacostia River
Park, specifically the wetlands area along the Metro right-of-way, in search
of the Least Bittern that Fred F. reported yesterday (assuming this is where
he heard the bird). We didn't find the bittern, but did flush a male Wild
Turkey. It was only about 25' away from us at first, but quickly dropped
out of sight and darted through the brush, reappearing at the opposite end
of the right-of-way, about 100 yards away. We also heard 7-8 singing Willow
Flycatchers, loads of Yellow Warblers, and a couple of Green Herons, which
we suspect might be nesting.

Good birding,
