Ok, so the great and wise Rob Hilton informs me it is the hybrid Chinese
Swan Goose and Canada that has been seen before. Hey, it was exciting for
me.

Other observations from today in PG County

A pair of Osprey at PG County Hospital! Totally unexpected. One with a
fish, and one sitting on the cell tower. I think one was the adult and
cell tower bird was the juv waiting for the fish. They left together when
I approached the adult with the fish too closely. Serves me right.
I may have found the nest they used, but since the juv fledged, it will be
hard to know until next year.

At the same site I found the Kildeer sitting on nest and took a picture of
the eggs.

Barn Swallows were feeding their juvs on the wing - very cool, and King
Birds and Orchard Orioles on the nest. Wood Thrush on nest and heard a
Scarlet Tanager.
Also present
Mockingbirds
Catbirds
Indigo Bunting
Chipping Sparrow
Brown Thrasher
Downy Woodpecker
Turkey Vulture
Red Shouldered Hawk
Common Grackles

Off to Bladensburg Waterfront Park where there was another Osprey with a
fish - perhaps the same one from earlier in the afternoon at the
hospital. The hospital is within sight, so not out of the question, I
suppose. Adult Male Blue Bird - there is a nest box on site, Tree
Swallow, Barn Swallows and Canada Geese and a hybrid Swan Goose/Canada
Goose to round out the afternoon.
