Lynn,
I have just returned from a weekend in Dorchester County. I am not sure how
the Dorchester atlas blocks are arranged, but where I stay is private
property off of Town Point Road, between Heron Road and David Green Road.
The property is on Fishing Creek. By this time, the following species have
probably been confirmed a dozen times over, but I thought I would let you
know what I found anyway. Actually, I was more surprised by what I didn't
find, but here goes.

Green Heron (2) - ON
Osprey (4) - ON x 2
Red-tailed Hawk (pair) - FY
Wild Turkey (many)
Northern Bobwhite - heard only
Yellow-billed Cuckoos (3) - T
Chuck-will's-widow (1) - T
Red-bellied Woodpecker (2) - FL
Great-crested Flycatcher (3) - FL
Eastern Kingbird - pair
Mockingbird - pair with FY
Pine Warbler (many) - T
Blue Grosbeak - pair
Indigo Bunting - T
Eastern Towhee - T
Field Sparrows - T
Grasshopper Sparrows (3) - T

Of course, there are many other species on this property, but these are the
Probable and Confirmed sightings.

Additionally, I was at the Suicide Bridge Restaurant in Secretary on
Saturday and there is a thriving colony of Purple Martins in the gord houses
alongside their pier.

Finally, I found a Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow on Shorter's Wharf Road on
the side of the bridge directly across the creek from the boat ramp. Of
course, there were many Seaside Sparrows here as well, along with many Marsh
Wrens and one Virginia Rail in this same general area of Shorter's Wharf
Road.

Very nice to find myself atlassing in Maryland again.

Best,
Cathy Carroll
