Just had my very first Peregrine seen from the office. It is hanging out between L and M St. NW on the back side of buildings on the East side of 20th - for those of you who want to try to find it later. It has been perching on a TV antenna. There is an alley way behind 20th street, and this bird has nailed prey twice in the last hour since I saw it. I presume it is grabbing birds around the dumpsters behind the building. It is eating prey, but I can't make out the source.

Nice segway from Janet's previous post.

I'm not the strongest bird ID person for falcons, but there is a strong distinct mustache, gray wings and back, white and gray horizontal bands on chest and the wings appear to be longer than the tail pointing to Peregrine.

Ironic to see this today, as I was pondering if I should keep dragging my favorite pair of small binocs around in my purse. I think this is a sign that points yes.
Good birding!
