Greetings,

Like Parke and Sean, I too went to find the Cecil Dickcissels. I found them
where they were said to be. Though not lifers for me I did FINALY find my
life Grasshopper Sparrow! I found two of them, they were at the corner of
Old Telegraph and Route 310. I also found their song extremely difficult
for me to hear! Perhaps this high end hearing loss is why I have never
noticed the bird before? There were also field Sparrows singing in the same
field as were Chippers and Songs. A Swamp sparrow was seen along the canal
east of Chesapeake City giving me a 5 sparrow day. Another interesting bird
along the canal was a large tern. Initially I felt it was a Caspian, but
when I loked closer it had a very bright yellow bill. Could this be a Royal
Tern that has flown west through the canal (it was flying steadily
westward).

Other interesting birds for the day was the confirmation of breeding Yellow-
billed Cuckoos in my yard! One was singing in my yard and I saw it Carrying
food into the woods where there was another one singing. I also heard a
third one singing down the road a bit.

Three Cattle Egrets were also seen in the Warwick area of southern Cecil
County.

Good Birding,
Chris Starling
