Folks
Today two young Northern Flicker showed up at the house. I think this is a first for me. A few photos were taken.
Other hatch young around this week were Mourning Dove, Downy, Hairy, and Red-bellied Woodpecker, Blue Jay, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Carolina Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, American Robin, Chipping Sparrow, Common Grackle, Brown-headed Cowbird, Northern Cardinal, and House Finch. A pair of Pileated visited today but no confirmed young yet.
The male Cooper's Hawk was in the backyard on Thursday. The bird Gwen saw the other day was a female, so I bet you a dollar to a donut they are nesting around the block.
The best way to confirm breeding birds may be to stand still.
Good atlasing.
