I previously reported on the pair of Dickcissels I found on 1 Jun in
Worcester along Forrest Lane Road - potentially the first county breeding
record. I visited this pair a number of times during June, and although
towards the end of the month the female seemed to be going to a nest, I
could not confirm breeding. Also in late-June, a second male appeared,
singing vigorously to the east of the initial location.
I couldn't check on them due to scheduling issues for about 3 weeks, so I
made a special trip on 16 July to try on confirm breeding, thinking the
original pair might be feeding young at this point. I was disappointed in
that the original pair was nowhere to be found, but at the location of the
second singing male (who was still there), he also had a mate, and
eventually I was about to document nest-building (see web site), and make
the first confirmed breeding record for Worcester County.

Additionally, there were two new singling males along the road, towards Rt.
354.
