Fran and I stopped at the Rt. 50 borrow pit (just north and east of
where the Salisbury bypass swings off to the left from Business Rt.
50) this morning just about 11:00 am. We quickly located the
phalarope doing its spinning thing near the back of the ponds at the
southern end of the pit. Other birds included Glossy Ibis, both
Greater & Lesser Yellowlegs, Pectoral Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper,
lots of Killdeer, Great Egret, at least half a dozen immature Little
Blue Herons, and all the usual ducks, geese, and vultures.

One could spend the better part of a day there carefully surveying
the entire pit and likely turn up an impressive list of birds. We
only scratched the surface because the phalarope was a state bird
for Fran and we had other places to be after seeing it.

Thanks to Sam Dyke for locating the bird and to the Broderick's for
posting its continued presence.
