At 2200 +/- last night, I was happy to hear a GHO calling from one of the
yard trees. Shortly after he/she began, a second unknown voice joined in.
That call I am unable to adequately describe except to say that it was loud,
a single short phrase or note and sounding familiar and a perhaps a little
"froggy/peepery" more than anything else. Both continued for appx 5 minutes
or so, with the "frog" eventually taking over the role of lead followed
almost immediately by the GHO. I've never heard a fox make this sound, but
I did wonder if a skunk might be responsible. On the net I found
<http://www.aaawildlife.com/old_site/skunk.html> where the claim is made
that skunks will vocalize with occasional "bird-like" sounds, but gave no
example. If anyone has an idea of the identity of the second "songster", I'd
be happy to know about it. Thanks.

P.S. Although unrelated, in my net search I also came upon
http://wildspace.ec.gc.ca/calls-e.html, which contains among other things
"recordings of approximately 203 bird species" which might be of interest to
some list members. The list is from the Canadian Wildlife Service - Ontario
Region, but has many birds found here. On that page under "Library - I want
to see" you will find the link to the calls...
