Folks,

On the Harford Bird Club field trip this morning at Conowingo Dam, we found
an American White Pelican on the Susquehanna River. The bird is an adult in
basic plumage (with gray nape). It sat in the same location for about 3
hours,
near Bird Island.

[The large island just below the dam with the electric towers is Rowland
Island.
About 1/4 mile further downstream is Bird Island, the next large island
with
trees.]

Other nice birds to be on the lookout for are Black-bellied Plovers near the
pelican, and an adult Peregrine Falcon on Rowland Island.

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver to blue
