Yesterday morning, Saturday, Fran and I drove the ORV Zone on Assateague Island. We saw Royal, Caspian, Common, Least, Black, and Sandwich Terns. Among good numbers of Sanderlings, Willets, and American Oystercatchers, we saw a very few Ruddy Turnstones and Black-bellied Plovers along with a lone MARBLED GODWIT. The latter was feeding along the surf edge about a mile south of the ORV entrance.

This morning we wandered around the Berlin Sewage Ponds off Rt. 113 just south of Rt. 50. There were lots of peeps, pecs, and yellowlegs but the highlight of the morning for us was a pair of AMERICAN AVOCETS in the south pond, resting at the base of the dike separating the two ponds from each other.

Best from Worcester County!
