Seeing the Big Sits listed in the Yellowthroat reminded me to announce that
I, and presumably others, will be "Sitting on our Assateague" on October 9,
2005. I invite anyone and everyone to join us at the end of the Bayside
Campground road by the canoe rentals. If you need more specific directions, feel
free to email me. I will be arriving at least an hour before dawn, possibly
earlier if conditions are good for night migration.
This will be the 4th year of "Sitting on our Assateague." In 2003, we had
the highest total north of Mexico with 103. Highlights from past sits have
included: Eurasian Collared-Dove in 2002, Yellow-headed Blackbird in 2003,
Orange-crowned Warbler and Clay-colored Sparrow in 2004, and an excellent time in
2002, 2003, and 2004.
Hope to see you there!!! I'll try to send out a reminder the week before as
well.
