Hi --

A pretty good day at Rock Creek Park DC, in the Maintenance Yard, where Barry and I birded for about an hour and a half. The most action was early but continued until about 9 am, when it got bright and sunny. Quite a good fallout despite unfavorable winds.

Warblers: Black-and-White (5), Blackburnian (1), Black-throated Green (3), Black-throated Blue (1), Blue-winged (1, a real beauty), Blackpoll (1), Canada (1, male), Magnolia (6), Nashville (1), Ovenbird (1), Parula (2), Prairie (1), Redstart (6-7), Yellowthroat (~20 or more).

Others: Red-eyed Vireo (12), Rose-breased Grosbeak (4-5), Scarlet Tanager (3), Baltimore Oriole (2), Wood-Pewee (1), Empid Sp (very brief look, probably Least based on jizz and eye-ring), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (1), Gray Catbird was everywhere (dozens), Cuckoo sp. probably Black-billed, in flight only.

We were there yesterday but it was pretty quiet, best bird a Hooded Warbler seen after we left (!) -- however in the week a male Golden-winged was seen by Dan Eberly and Margerie Rachlin in the Yard, and a BB Cuckoo on the ridge.
