Hi,

Dave Czaplak called me about 5 minutes ago, saying
(over a bad cell phone connection) that he had a
Sabine's Gull at Violette's Lock, flying south into
Virginia, rather than downriver.

Looking at Mapquest (dangerous, I know), the end of
Violette's Lock Road is upriver from Ponds Island
(Maryland) and opposite the Loudoun/Fairfax County
line.  I assume Dave was standing at the lock itself;
if so he was facing upriver and the bird flew in to
Loudoun County.

I don't know the age of the bird.

I suppose the bird could end up following the river
rather than continue due south, but who knows.

I apologize if this has been posted already.
