Late in being able to post but this week's highlights were:
Today at MPEA (Middle Patuxent)- a small movement of Thrushes with a couple SWANSON'S and 5-6 WOOD THRUSHES. Warbler activity was moderate with 20+ MAGNOLIAS and 8 CHESTNUT-SIDED being the most numerous. A single BLACKBURNIAN and NASHVILLE being noteworthy. A single SWAMP SPARROW in the Clegg meadow.
However!!! Sparrows are starting to move in and yesterday we found 25+ SAVANNAHS, 2 SWAMP and singles of FIELD and GRASSHOPPER. Numbers of SONG on the increase also. At mid-morning we also spotted 750++ BROAD-WINGS in 15 minutes. Our first PALM WARBLER in the goldenrod and first SNIPE in the wetlands.
In the yard I had my first SAPSUCKER and RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET.
At Rockburn on fall count it was dismally slow but we did manage to find 3 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, a MOURNING WARBLER and PHILADELPHIA VIREO.
