Hi all,
I raced through Blue Mash this morning ahead of the ANS field trip there. A
record time for me I think, as I usually wander very slowly. Anyway, the wind
seemed to keep the birds to a minimum, though after my tally I counted more
today than yesyerday. Birds were different though. Today I got Mallards, A.
Black Duck and Wood Ducks on the big pond, yesterday only Green-winged Teals.
Today I added a single Swamp Sparrow, and 3 Dark-eyed Juncos to my sparrow
count, and Black-throated Green, N. Parula, and Eastern Palm Warblers to
yesterdays Common Yellowthroat and Yellow-rumps (seen in good numbers today as
well).
Also added today were my first Brown Creeper and Blue-headed Vireo of the
season, as well as good numbers of Golden-crowned Kinglets, and a few
Ruby-crowned as well. I also saw a single Sharpie and Cooper's (the sharpie stooped on
the Coopers way up in the air) today but no other hawks.
A Mourning Dove still sits on the nest we first discovered 2 weeks ago today.
Have a nice week.
