The first Junco of the season showed up this morning, in the company of
Chipping Sparrows (5 or 6 together), Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Song
Sparrow. They were all jostling for drinking/bathing space in the mini-pond
along with the resident cardinals, titmice, etc. Nearby, a White-breasted
Nuthatch has been spending its days emptying the feeder of sunflower seeds
and stashing them in the bark of a nearby tree. My deck area was the
birdiest I've seen it in a long time.
