Joel - When we first observed the bird last Sunday it was fairly close (at
least with a 32x eyepiece on a Leica APO scope), but too distance for good
photos with my Canon 100-400x IS zoom lens. Nonetheless, I did take a lot
of pictures and have attempted to put the best on my website at

I have been doing considerable research on digiscoping since then in the
eventuality of similar circumstances. Hans also got a number of pics
through his scope.

The presence of the Curlew Sandpiper on Friday, 10/14, was questionable.

If anyone has an image of the bird from last week I'd love to see it.
