After Friday's wonderful experience, I headed off the Constitution Gardens
and the DC Veteran's Memorial to see if anyone was still there.
They were still around:
At Constitution Gardens: Plenty of Palm Warblers (including a couple
of western forms), but not as many as Friday. More juncos than Friday,
and many more Eastern Phoebes (easily a dozen in the area). New to
the assemblage were two Field Sparrows and an Eastern Towhee.
Things were much quieter at the DC Veteran's Memorial, but Palm
Warblers were still about, both Kinglets, and yet more Phoebes.
Back at the Mary Ripley Garden, as I gazed wistfully at the
hummingbird feeder, a Winter Wren popped out of the beds, looked
at me for a moment, then scuttled back into the brush. A new
bird for my Mall list!
