I saw a White-Crowned Sparrow this AM at the New Wegman's supermarket in Hunt Valley (Baltimore County). It was in a very small flower bed bordering the parking lot.
Taking this as a sign of sparrow migration, I visited Cromwell Valley Park in the afternoon. Here I saw a few hundred sparrows, but the best bird was Yellow-Billed Cuckoo (getting late). Sparrows were:
Song (approx. 150); Chipping (approx. 70); White-Throated (12); Field (9); Towhee (3); Swamp (1). A Junco in my front yard made this an 8 sparrow day.
Also at Cromwell, a few hawks (add to the Hawk Watch total, Jim!): Sharpie (2); Northern Harrier (1). And 3+ Yellow-Rumped Warblers.
