A juvenile WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW showed up at my feeders earlier in the
week, and has made brief visits through today. Two PURPLE FINCHES (a new
yard bird for me) visited the feeders yesterday.

This morning I was delighted to see two YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS side-by-
side in one of my pine trees -- one disappeared around the trunk, but the
other flew to a Chinese Dogwood right outside the window and gave me some
lovely views as he made his way up the trunk and branches.

I also had a YELLOW VARIANT HOUSE FINCH show up at the feeders today --
very clearly had a pale yellow rump, but only a slight (if any) amount of
yellow on the head (the bird was facing away from me most of the time he
was at the feeder).
