I birded the River Trail at Kenilworth for a quick 2 hours this morning and found it to be very birdy. Best birds were a lone RUSTY BLACKBIRD and 2 PURPLE FINCHES (males, traveling with some House Finches).
Very large numbers of Yellow-rumped Warblers and White-throated Sparrows, plus the following additional highlights:
Pied-billed Grebe (in the Anacostia)
2 Great Egrets
Red-shouldered Hawk
Both Kinglets
Hermit Thrush
2 Catbirds and a Brown Thrasher (and a mocker for a nice late-season mimid sweep)
3 Field Sparrows and about 10 Swamp Sparrows
