I just got home from attending the Cape May Fall Weekend and birder's
gathering.

Of note to MD birders might be the 3 sand hill cranes seen at the Hawk
Watch at the Point. There were 2 seen on Friday and 1 on Saturday, heading
south. The watchers speculated that the one on Saturday is probably just
one from Friday who did not continue south.

Cape May still has thousands of tree swallows. Also, Bunker Pond at the
Point has had up to 16 Ospreys fishing the pond for the past 6 weeks. I saw
at least 10 there on Thursday.

Be on the lookout for masses of migrating kinglets and flickers. Both
kinglets were everywhere over the weekend and many, many flickers were
moving south. One other highlight that I had was 7 sapsuckers in one tree
at the CMBO office by Lily Lake.
Enough about Cape May, since this is for MD birds.
