Three Smithsonian birders did a tour of the Lincoln Monument areas today
at lunch: me, Susan Strange and Joan Boudreau. Here is what we saw:
At Constitution Gardens:
Flocks of Juncos, a Downy Woodpecker, several Palm Warblers, several
Eastern Phoebes, and some Ruby-crowned Kinglets. Much the same
assemblage as last week, but not as many birds.
At the DC Veteran's Memorial
More Juncos, a Cooper's Hawk (which kept everyone down and quiet
for a while), Blue Jays, and a Red-bellied Woodpecker.
On the southwest side of the Washington Monument grounds: a
Blackpoll.
