I was at Conowingo Dam this morning from approximately 10 am until 11
am. I did not see a hundred eagles as was reported over the weekend, but
I was able to count 51 eagles from one spot without moving. The great
majority were immature birds. I only saw 7 or 8 mature ones.
Gulls were is short supply and I only saw ringed-bills.
At my feeders today I saw Purple Finch, Red-breasted Nuthatch and
Black-capped Chickadees. The chickadees were very skittish so I did not
get a great look at them but they were bigger than the Carolina
Chickadees that were also present and had the extra white on the wings
so I am reasonably sure of the identification.

The eagle looked down on the river below
And he wrapped his wings round him and he fell like a stone
And the big salmon fought but the talons held true
And he shuddered as the world turned from silver to blue
