MD Ospreyers:
With the irruption of Black-capped Chickadees, birders should be alert for
possible accompanying Boreal Chickadees.
From the BNA-Online Boreal Chickadee account:
Irruptions [of Boreals] in New York, Massachusetts, and Ohio always
associated with major southward movements of Black-capped Chickadees (Bull
1974, Sorrie 1975, Peterjohn 1989), but not all irruptions of Black-capped
Chickadees include Boreal Chickadees.

(Parus hudsonicus). In The Birds of North America, No. 254 (A. Poole and F.

Black-cappeds are not reviewable, Boreals are, Carolinas are in the very
western part of MD.
