I had a backyard full of birds at my house in Elkton this weekend to
entertain a houseful of birders (Gene Scarpulla, Marty Wright, Donna
Finnegan and Tim Carr). The highlights were White-crowned Sparrow (1),
female Purple Finches (1 or 2), Black-capped Chickadee (at least 3, but
likely more). The usual suspects around the feeders were House Finch, House
Sparrow, Northern Cardinal, Carolina Chickadee, Nortern Flicker, Downy
Woodpeckers, White-throated Sparrow, one lone Tufted Titmouse, American
Robin, Cedar Waxwing, Blue Jay, and Morning Dove, as well as a Great Blue
Heron, Turkey Vulture, Sharp-shinned Hawk, and Canada Geese overhead.

We also visited Turkey Point on Sunday afternoon. No raptors were there at
that time, but large numbers of Cedar Waxwings were about, in the company
of quite a few Black-capped Chickadees, Carolina Chickakees, American
Robins, a couple of kinglets (not sure which species, couldn't get on
them), Yellow-rumped Warblers, White-breasted Nuthatch, Red-bellied
Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, and White-throated Sparrows.
Also Herring Gulls flying over. All the feeder birds(plus Song Sparrow)
remained at my feeders today. if anybody needs Black-capped or White-
crowned or Purple Finches for Cecil, drop me a line and I'll give you
directions.
