Last night I got a call from Hank Kaestner who had seen an Empidonax flycatcher on the NCR Trail one half mile north of Monkton Road in northern Baltimore County. He believed it might be a Hammond's Flycatcher based on its wing and tail flicking. Jim Stasz and Matt Hafner are looking at the bird now and believe it may be a "Western" type such as Pacific-Slope Flycatcher which has rarely appeared in the east.
The NCR Trail parking lot is located on the north side of Monkton Road a little east of where it crosses Gunpowder Falls, ADC 8B13 or DeLorme 75C5. The trail is marked on both maps. The bird was near a large abandoned building on the east side of the trail about a half mile north of Monkton Road.
   Good luck to anyone chasing.
