While looking into spotting scopes, I was glad to learn that Hands on 
Optics in Damascus, MD has recently become a stocking Zeiss dealer 
(both binoculars and scopes).  Their expertise seems to be 
principally astronomy optics, and, other than the Zeiss-branded 
Manfrotto 3021/3130, their current tripod inventory is primarily 
oriented toward astronomical applications.  But they do seem quite 
knowledgeable about optics, per se, and I had found Zeiss optics 
difficult to find and sample locally.
