I can add to the recent colloquy on suburban/urban accipiters: yesterday I saw an adult Cooper's Hawk perched on an antenna over Magruder's on Connecticut Ave. in Chevy Chase, and one morning last week I saw an immature Cooper's on the ground in my neighbor's yard until the noise from the garbage truck in our alley scared it away.

Adding a buteo to my neighborhood's raptor mix, today some angry-sounding crows drew my attention to a rather large-looking Red-tailed Hawk perched directly over Western Ave. (and therefore barely within DC) in Friendship Heights.
