I'm pretty darned sure that a juvenile Broad-winged Hawk hunted it's way
through the big trees in our yard yesterday afternoon...it stayed in the
treetops...would perch and survey for 10 minutes, then move on.
I don't have a lot of experience w/these but do with Cooper's,
Red-shouldered and Red-tailed. This bird had a completely white/unmarked
breast/belly except for some flecking near shoulder areas (?) of chest. Had
a white throat w/fairly dark face, pale superciliary streak...basically it
fit the descriptions in the books of a lightly marked juvenile exactly.
