A Long-tailed Duck was present at Centennial Lake, Howard
County, this morning from before 0900 to at least 1030. It was
first located by Rodney, whose last name I do not know, who
had seen a white-headed and necked duck. He got me on it, and I
i.d.'d as a Long-tail. I won't hazard a guess as to age or sex,
as I have not figured the plumage cycles of the duck out yet.
Thanks, Rodney!!!

There were also several dozen Ring-necked Ducks, about 2 dozen
Ruddies, 8 or so Hooded Mergansers, 2 Black Ducks, and 5 of so
Canvasback. And 1 Am. Coot.

Earlier at Greenbridge, Triadelphia Reservoir, I counted 138
Common Mergansers. There were easily many more, but the light
was bad and they kept moving around. I also saw two Black Ducks.
The birds were so distant, it's possible something tastier lurked,
but it was beyond my abilities and optics.

Wilde Lake and Lake Elkhorn were mostly frozen. Only Mallards and
Canada Geese. Elkhorn also had a lone Coot, and a Canada X ????
Goose. Somewhat larger, orange-ish feed, too much white on the face,
and a big white patch on the breast.
