This afternoon around 1:30, I found 3 American Black Ducks on
Greenbelt Lake. They were with the Canada Geese (150+) and
Mallards (40+) in the northwest corner of the lake (by the end of the
dam). Also present: at least 10 Hooded Mergansers,1 Pied-billed
Grebe, 1 Ring-necked Duck, 2 Ruddy Ducks, and the odd coot or
two. I also got some good looks at the female Belted Kingfisher that
I've heard several times in the last week. The gulls all seem to be
Ring-bills.

I have found the mergansers every time that I've looked for them in
recent days. Lately they have been hanging out in the South Bay.
You can get to this part of the lake most easily by parking on
Lakecrest Drive near the tennis courts and taking the wide cinder
path the short distance to the lake.
