Dear Ospreyers--

Ooops, my bad -- after checking the maps for the (tortuous) VA/DC boundary across the river from Hain's Pt., we found that Gravelly Point is NOT in DC. (We had thought it was, being east of the Boundary Channel -- but the border makes a large loop just north of the point and then sweeps along the Potomac riverbank. Dang.)

Oh well, the ironic thing is we were being very careful not to frighten the geese back into the water (so as to get decent photos). If they HAD gone back into the Potomac, then our little friend would have been in DC!

However, it does mean that there is at least one Cackling Goose consorting with Canadas, which (in turn) travel back and forth across boundaries. So keep your eyes peeled!

(The White-front, happily, was well within the District!).
