I've had a red-breasted nuthatch visiting my feeder daily for the last 10
days--he goes after sunflower seeds and peanut suet. I understand they're
not all that common around here? I live in Roland Park, and am quite
pleased with the number of birds I've had at the feeder in the past year.
The nuthatch is not at all shy; he didn't really wait for me to finish
filling the feeder this morning before heading in for sunflower seeds. He's
shared the suet feeder with the downy woodpecker and carolina wren, and has
pushed the red-bellied off the sunflower feeder. Does anyone else have them
as feeder birds around here?

My other daily visitors include:

titmice
white-breasted nuthatches
chickadees
cardinals
goldfinches
juncos
white-throated sparrows
mourning doves
downy woodpeckers
red-bellied woodpeckers
carolina wrens
savannah sparrows and house finches on occasion
house sparrows!
