Tyler Bell's first bird of 2006 was a Carolina Wren at 7:30 a.m. on
1/1/06, at our backyard feeder. His second bird was a White-breasted
Nuthatch in the same location. Jane Kostenko's first bird was a Yellow-
bellied Sapsucker on the way to the Sea Breeze around 10 a.m. Alas, the
long-lost Kelp Gull was not to be found. We did, however, have Herring,
Ring-billed, and Great Black-backed Gulls, plus Buffleheads and Long-
tailed Ducks, and Canada Geese. In the Sea Breeze's parking lot, we had
American Goldfinch and Swamp Sparrow. Happy birding! Jane Kostenko
