Twice in the past week while I was birding the beaver pond at Upper Watts
Park late in the afternoon, I have seen a flight of thousands of crows
flying to the west southwest from the nearby county landfill (I’m guessing)
to their night roost. Along with the American and Fish crows, I have
noticed two other types of birds in much smaller numbers that I haven't been
able to ID

(1)	small, very dark birds flying very high and quickly moving much faster
than the crows shaped almost like chimney swifts
(2) medium sized birds smaller than the crows, moving more quickly than the
crows and slower than the smaller dark birds, with dark bodies and
light-colored heads when the sun shines on them—blue jays, perhaps?

I should mention that last Wednesday (12/28) when I was out in the same
area, I also saw ran into a large flock of robins (1000+) and thought I
twice heard a distinct raven croak (!) although I could not locate it…

Happy New Year to everyone.
