I went out for a couple of hrs this morning, in damp and murky conditions. I found a Lapland Longspur along River Rd, in the general area where one has been reported for a couple of weeks now, in with a big Horned Lark flock. There may be more than one longspur, since when I was watching the bird thru the scope I heard a longspur rattle which seemed to come from another part of the field.

I also came across 5 Purple Finch on Hughes Rd just N of the polo ground.

W Offutt Rd had a good collection of sparrows (both sides of the horse farm), with the following being there:

  Chipping Sparrow - 1
  Fox Sparrow - 1
  American Tree Sparrow - c 5
  Field Sparrow - 2
  Song and White-throated - many
  Fox Sparrow - 1
  Towhee - 2
  Swamp Sparrow - 3

Also plenty of Junco around, but no White-crowned anywhere.

  Regards
