Home and drying out from a wet day doing our Sector (6) of the Sugarloaf CBC -- this includes Lilypons and also, a lot of the Monocacy. Unfortunately our crew got pretty well drenched and we all bagged it just after noon, which is almost a first for a bunch of die-hards -- but we still saw some good birds. Highlights include:

Am. Bittern (1)
Sora (1)
Tundra Swan
Two adult Bald Eagles sitting out at Lilypons
Hooded Merganser
Great Horned Owl
Barred Owl
Wild Turkey
Eastern Phoebe
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Winter Wren
Rusty Blackbird
Tree Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrow
Purple Finch
Lapland Longspur

High numbers of Brown Creepers and Golden-crowned Kinglets
NO Snipe
NO vultures
NO Fox Sparrows
ALMOST NO Robins (they are all in lower Montgomery County, I guess)
A very few wet and unhappy Bluebirds

Were unable to relocate the adult male Common Yellowthroat we had two days ago (in sunlight) and also, the Virginia Rail which responded to tape Saturday was quiet today.

Still, better than we expected going by the weather --

Thanks to the Sector 6 folks: Marcia Balestri, Barry Cooper, George Hausch, Diane Lucas and Paul O'Brien. (and me)
