 Hello
At around 3:00 this afternoon I went with Steve for my first time to Lake Centennial, (or is it Centennial Lake? I forgot.) and saw several species of waterfowl for the first time this year. The year's firsts were:
  2 Northern Pintails
  2 Canvasbacks
  10 or so Ring-necked Ducks
3 or maybe 4 Lesser Scaups
  4 Ruddy Ducks
There were also a very large amount of American Robins flying about. They were definitely the most robins I have ever seen in the winter. Those were year's firsts too. And so were a somewhat smaller flock of Cedar Waxwings, 2 Tufted Titmouse and 2 or 3 White-throated Sparrows. And I heard my year's first Belted Kingfisher and Carolina Wren.
The main thing there was when I saw a crow fly overhead making some different noises, not an 'everyday' caw, Steve told me that it was a Fish Crow. I have heard crows make that kind of call before, but that will be the first one that I will be brave enough to say that it was a Fish Crow. And so I got a lifer at Centennial Lake too. (Or is that Lake Centennial?)
  Marcus
