Basking in the afterglow of seeing the beautiful Townsend's Warbler
yesterday, I thought I might as well try for the light-phased Rough-legged
Hawk that Bill Hubick and Jim Brighton saw in Calvert County on the 2nd. I
knew it would be a long-shot so many days later and no luck there. So on
this nice spring-like day I decided to check the condition of some of the
bluebird boxes on our trails. Several have already been blasted away. So
much for responsible gun owners. I did locate a Barn Owl, so am reporting it
(but not location as Barn Owls are hanging by a thread in Calvert).
Otherwise it was a pretty quiet day. Almost nothing on the Patuxent River,
mid-county and didn't get over to the bay side. Maybe tomorrow.
