Hi all Just a quick note to say that on Fri afternoon 1 - 6 - 06 after
taking off work early I went to Dorchester county to make a try for the
Harlequin Duck at Cambridge and the White Pelicans at the Blackwater
wildlife refuge .First stop Cambridge no Harlequin Duck could be found .
Other ducks around mentioned in others posts . I had good looks at Scoters
and Longtails . On to Blackwater by Maple Dam road 3 Bald Eagles
waiting to feed on something dead in a field along with several
vultures that were feeding . Next Stop The vistor center were I
bought my Duck stamp the man running the store mentioned that two guys
earlier in the day had seen all 4 of the white Pelicans and another fellow
had seen one . On the drive around I found 1 white pelican with several
swans napping latter it flew to the north side of the refuge near
the wildlife drive exit . Lots of Eagles around . On the way back through
Cambrige just before sunset I made another try for the Harlequin still no
luck however .

On Sun afternoon Jan 8 , 06 I went to Sparks road near
Ridgely in Caroline County and near the intersection of Sparks and
Stevenson lane and soon located a flock of about 100 Horned Larks that
held 1 Lapland Longspur . At Tuckahoe State Park there was a flock of
about 50 Juncos , 12 whitethroats , 1 Fox Sparrow , 3 Golden Crowned
Kinglets , 7 coots at the lake

In Queen Annes County near Centreville I was scaning a flock of
Canada Geese one of the birds had on the back half of the bird
across the back and down the side to were the white starts it was a
dirty white band with some brownish streaks running through it
interresting to say the least . I have a poor Digital picture of it if
anyonre wants to see let me know . Another Canada had a white spot on the
top of its head. At the Rt 309 pond near Centreville there were about
100 Snow Geese more Canada Geese , Ring Necked Ducks, Black Ducks, 1
female Bufflehead ,
