This afternoon I was finally able to make it over to the Eastern Shore to chase some of the rarities found in the new year. My first stop was Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center where the Eurasian Wigeon was off the canoe ramp with about a dozen wigeon. There were 60+ wigeon in Lake Knapp that I searched through first. The next stop was a goose flock just north of Trappe were I found 2 groups of 3 Richardson's Geese each. In Cambridge, the Harlequin was nowhere to be seen at 1pm. There were 3 White Pelicans sleeping at the end of the Wildlife Drive at Blackwater. A return to Cambridge at 3pm found the Harlequin out in the bay behind the yacht club. The bonus bird of the day was a Fox Sparrow on Cherry Lane in Caroline County for my 200th bird in Caroline County. Still no waxwing though...
