I visited The Preserve Formerly Known As Horsehead
Wetlands Sanctuary today, braving the winds to look
for Eurasian Wigeon. No wigeon of any kind did I see.
I did have a nice time walking the trails at this
sanctuary.

I saw the Cambridge Harlequin Duck hanging out with
three or four female Buffleheads, among all the boats,
at the Cambridge Yacht Club around 3:30 to 3:45 pm
this afternoon. Among all the Surf Scoters in the
Choptank near the club were a few Black Scoters and
one White-winged Scoter. The only scaup I noted were
in the Choptank and appeared to be Lessers. A male
Long-tailed Duck was in the river and was calling a
few times.

The Canvasback gang at the end of Oakley Street was
quite impressive. I scanned a few times with
binoculars but stayed inside the car (enough is
enough!), and did not see the Redhead noted by Les
Roslund (?) earlier this month.

I made a mad dash to Blackwater NWR after I left
Cambridge and failed to see any pelicans.
