Went up to Patton Turf Farm late this afternoon. Fairly quiet. Located a
small flock (40+) of Horned Larks. No longspurs that I could see. Neat
thing was that there were a few larks separate from the flock and from
each other, standing motionless on the ground and singing. I've heard
their flight chatter before but this is the first chance I had to hear
them sing.
Also today, a storm water management pond at the corner of Key West Ave
and Medical Center Dr. held 5 Redheads.
Thursday, 1/26 while looking for owls in my atlas block, I came across 3
Red-breasted Nuthatches.
Good birding,
