Yesterday afternoon (Monday) I stopped by Patuxent River Park (Jug
Bay) in southern Prince George's County. Had a very pleasant walk in
the Black Walnut Creek Nature Study Area, where I saw skunk
cabbage blooming.
Bird-wise, it was pretty quiet. I heard 2 Eastern Towhees calling and
saw 3 Rusty Blackbirds in the reeds by the river. There were lots of
gulls flying over the river, some of which appeared smaller and more
agile - could have been Bonaparte's, but I wasn't feeling ambitious
enough to set up the scope and pick through them.
On the way home, I saw a forsythia in bloom along Rte. 202. I could
get used to this!
