Hi --

No, not the infamous "Dead Rabbit" NYC gang of the mid-1800s, but an actual deceased bunny in the upper yard. We first noticed it in mid-afternoon -- hard not to when four Black Vultures are sitting on your lawn tearing at the carcass! Examination by binocular showed that the rabbit had only been partly eaten so probably not killed by a fox which would have carried it off. We speculated on bird of prey or perhaps, feral cat.

Anyway, the vultures left and a Red-shouldered Hawk came in and started to eat at the rabbit. Finally, it carried what was left off -- leaving tufts of fur over the yard -- so perhaps it was the rightful owner of the kill.

A little bit of the wild right in Colesville!
