Blue Mash Nature Trail, Montgomery County, Zion Road section, 11 Feb 06,
0745-0945

John Combs and I decided on some pre-snowstorm birding along the BMNT this
morning. Best bird was a Cackling Goose standing on ice on the partially
frozen inner pond next to a group of Canada Geese, which made for a nice
comparison. A lifer for John and BMNT #145 for me. Other waterfowl found
on both ponds: Am. Black Duck; Mallard; Ring-necked Duck; scaup sp.;
Bufflehead; and Hooded Merganser.

Other birds of note:  1-Great Blue Heron; 1-crow-harassed Red-tailed Hawk;
1-Golden-crowned Kinglet; 4-E. Bluebird; Am. Tree, Song, Swamp &
White-throated Sparrow; and 3-House Finch.
