It should be noted that the expedition co-leader, Dr. Bruce Beehler, is a local birder as well as an ornithologist with Conservation International -- and is a not-infrequent visitor to Rock Creek Park (often bringing visiting scientists from around the world) and organizer of the annual Warbler Big Day, which starts at Rock Creek and ends up (by bicycle) in western Montgomery Co.

Bruce is author of the field guide to New Guinea and a new edition of that book is due out very soon. Unfortunately, due to his expedition, it is already a bit out of date! <gr>
